One World Products just made its greenest move yet. On July 15, the company acquired Michigan-based Eco Bio Plastics for $600,000, diving headfirst into the race to replace petroleum-based packaging with compostable alternatives.

The timing is sharp. As states like California and New York tighten rules on single-use plastics, companies are scrambling to meet the moment. One World is betting that its new acquisition will give it the speed, scale, and credibility to pull ahead.

Eco Bio Plastics already has something many startups lack: a fully operational manufacturing facility and a line of plant-based materials certified for industrial composting. From food containers to disposable utensils, the company’s products are built for the growing demand and the coming regulations.

“This is more than a business move, it’s a mission,” said One World CEO Isiah Thomas. With the acquisition, the company gains not just physical assets but a faster route to market. The Midland, Michigan, facility will now double as both a production site and an R&D center.

One World’s new vertically integrated model could offer a major edge. It cuts out middlemen, speeds up innovation, and allows tighter control over quality and cost. That kind of flexibility is key in a sector where the rules and the technologies are evolving fast.

Still, it won’t be a smooth ride. Compostable packaging must compete with cheap, traditional plastics. Regional recycling and composting systems remain patchy. And scaling up while keeping costs down is no small feat.

But the shift is happening. One World’s move signals that compostable packaging is no longer just a niche solution. It’s becoming the standard. The race is on, and One World doesn’t plan to trail behind.
